I’ve studied and worked in a million things (tourism, languages, translation, teaching, sales, online training, business). I’ve worked with a million people in basically any industry and on all levels (part of the perks of being an English teacher, or representing a company!).  What defines my experience the most is that I’ve learnt to push my limits and help others push theirs. I love learning, which is a major part of everything I do. And ah – the basic answer to the question – I’m Canadian and Salvadorian and feel more Spanish than anybody – I chose this country, and I’ve lived here more years than anywhere else in my life.

Confidence and communication. I help people communicate with confidence, in the style and conditions that suit them well.  Translating is adapting language so that other people understand the underlying content and message to be communicated, not only exact words.  Speaking a different language means being able to take quick decisions and build upon basic, easily accessed, trustable information.  I do my best to enable people to have the same standards of communication in English, as in Spanish.

Where to start? Helping others would be number one, but that is only because I am a “people person”, and that would be number two… I get to meet and spend quality time with amazing people. And of course, last but not least – it would be difficult for me to do just one thing – I love being involved in all aspects of my work, of being accountable, of thinking, of learning, of representing, of contacting, of… the list goes on and on. But I think you get the picture.

Linguist healer

I studied Political Science which later allowed me to discover my true passion for languages and other cultures. Perhaps it was an erroneous beginning, but in the end I understood that languages, communication, teaching, and learning were for me. I therefore decided to study within the realm of Applied Linguistics to Language Teaching. Since then I feel like “Alice in Wonderland”, an attractive and inexplicable world with its daily conundrums to decipher with my students.
I was born in a country that no longer exists, bringing me to see myself as a citizen of Wonderland.
I’ve lived in 5 different countries, but I believe that the magic portal is in Madrid.

I use board games to teach vocabulary, transform grammar into something relatable to the real world, I concoct magic potions with different ingredients of existing methods to cure fears and insecurity when speaking in public, meetings, and meetings in the corporate world as well as others.

To be useful to those who would like to grow in every aspect. To learn more in as many areas as possible to broaden my own horizons of knowledge. Nothing else matters.

Daniel does not like to speak about himself, so, I’m going to help out a bit, so you can see who you are dealing with 😉  I would say that he comes from an entire life of ambition that looks nothing like ambition. Ambition to improve, to do things right, to be the person he wants to be, to be a good friend, to be a good family member, to be an exceptional teacher and translator. His experience in many fields is vast, and you can see how it’s applied to anything and everything he does. To meet Dani is to know that you have a quality person before you.

He has taught and teaches on various levels, private, public, corporate, education, academic, people of all ages, in both the United States and Spain. Every person, experience and group deserves the same merit, in his eyes.  Presently, he is teaching at a high school and as a University lecturer (Universidad de Alcalá de Henares), apart from his intense translations. The insight and deep knowledge of his English is indeed commendable (I’ve never seen anything like it), I would say “better than a native”, as he commands an intricate knowledge of punctuation, grammar, vocabulary and literature in both languages.

I believe that it would be difficult for Dani to do just one thing, and he thoroughly enjoys most aspects of everything he does work wise.  Preparation and research, contact and helping individuals and systems, teaching in itself, the intricate puzzles that translating implies.  All of this is not only visible upon working with him, but also through the comments that his students leave about him, that his previous employers or teachers (now friends!) comment.  I think he is in the exact field he wants to be in, and he loves it.

I was born in the lovely Melilla, so I can say my heart is quite african. Although you might think I am a Spanish person I suspect I was English in a past life since I have English friends all over the world and tea stands as my favorite drink. Most importantly, I have studied and spoken English all my life for pleasure…that isn’t very Spanish, don’t you think?

I combine coaching, English knowledge and acting techniques to build a warm comfort zone where my students feel safe to develop their communication skills. Speaking a second language makes us feel vulnerable in many ways so empathy is the main ingredient in my classes. Before my students realize, they have gained the confidence to be proud of themselves despite any language difficulties. In my experience, I have had the pleasure of working with a thousand people from a huge variety of fields with great results.

My major joy comes from the process surprises. It just makes my heart jump when a student gains the confidence to make a joke in English, when they tell me with shiny eyes that they nailed a job interview, got a promotion to an international position or even just could understand the tour guide when traveling. We don’t usually believe in ourselves, but when they realize they can make it through the English learning process, something else clicks inside them. I confess that clicking is the reason that keeps my fire on.

Why this works.

Bees working hard together

Teamwork within I See Culture. We work well as a team, covering the bases of each language and culture.  The tandem also goes well with our personalities and experience, helping us pursue all angles of the work before us.

Teamwork with our clients. Our goal is to do the best job possible, that means that if we have to ask questions to ensure the intended meaning of a difficult text, we will.  If that means that we should understand your business a bit more, to help with the creation of feasible and worthwhile projects, we ask. You should shine in English and be able to give the same impression as in Spanish. There are more ways to doing that than knowing the language inside and out. We’d love to help you.
